Doomed to repeat it

The Tories are calling for children to be given at least a 'basic knowledge' of British and world history. -- BBC

I admit that our school didn't teach us much British history, but that doesn't mean I don't know about the Industrial Dissolution, the Anglo-Irish potato wars, and Winston Chamberlain. What's the problem?

All the update, but a tenth of the effort: yep, it's a links post.

  • A fun, very clever animation created in, and concerning, Macromedia Flash. (Looks like it doesn't play in anything but Flash 8, though, so Linux users are out of luck.)

A small thing, but a cool one: today was the first time I saw a DeLorean (parked outside somebody's house).

Another month gap between updates. Oops. And it was briefly going so well.

Bring on the tidbits!

  • A total blog redesign in the next couple of months is quite likely. I'm not sure what to do yet, but I'm growing tired of the scenery around here. Everything is subject to change, including the site's focus.
  • Why would anybody be so redundant as to write ENGLAND in large letters across the middle of an England flag -- a symbol which already unambiguously means England -- especially since the act of doing so turns the flag into something that's not the flag of England?
  • In 3 weeks, I'm off to San Francisco to avoid the World Cup.
  • I think I might be a little bit in love with Alyx Vance, who exists only in a computer game.
  • For feed consumption and delivery, after looking at the options for a while, I've just switched from Bloglines -- which has become completely underwhelming in performance and upkeep in recent months -- to a personal installation of Gregarius, which is more hassle to set up, but which is very suitable in its daily operations.
  • I keep watching the best bits of Planet Earth over and over again. I can't wait for the last six episodes.
