With the addition of its 1,000,000th article at 11:09 last night, the English language Wikipedia is now the world's first million-subject encyclopedia (probably).

A funny synchronicity is that only 2 days ago en.wikipedia.org also gained its millionth registered user. Which may be an equally impressive achievement, given that most people who register do so for the extra editing features.
